This week, we read the big book Chinese Opera Game. In it, the children put up a Chinese Opera using everyday items around the house and used their parents large bed as a stage. We put up our own play in class today. We put in a lot of effort in preparing for this play.
We worked as a group to create the script and assigned the best members in our groups to become actors, sound-effects manager andd script voice-overs. It required a lot of teamwork because we had to make sure everybody knew what to do and when to do certain things during the play.
We rehearsed our parts in class yesterday.

We went to the Music Room where it was nice and air-conditioned to perform today. Here we are before the play. Check out our props. We worked in groups and decided who to bring which item or create our group's props for today.

White group. Look at Minami's sword made out of rolled newspaper. That's very creative and environmentally-friendly too!

Blue group. Did you see those swords Edmund and Ren Bin were holding? They looked real. Khoirunnisa's dad helped her make them using cardboard. Wow!

Green group. Look at Javier and Zhen Yu's cloaks! Clara and Nabilah were doing the voice-overs while Mahirah (centre) was the sound effects person. She used the tin cover to create the sound effects during the fight scenes.

Red group. That's Joel in the blue cloak. He's acting as one of the warlords.

Yellow group. All ready to perform!

We invited Primary 2A to join us. They were our audience today. We felt nervous about performing in front of them but we tried.

The two warlords, Edmund and Ren Bin, fighting to own a piece of land. We had to be careful not to hurt our friends yet make the scene look real. It's a good thing those swords are made of cardboard!

Taking a bow after our performance.
We really enjoyed performing today. We also received questions and feedback regarding our performance from our audience -Primary 2A. They enjoyed our play too.
They are now working on their class play. We hope they will invite us to their performance too!
